Using the pen is straightforward and is designed for self-administration at home:

• Choose an injection site — the abdomen, outer thigh, or upper arm are all suitable.
• Clean the area with an alcohol swab and allow to dry.
• Remove the cap, pinch the skin gently, and press the pen firmly against the skin.
• Press the button until you hear a click and hold for 10 seconds.
• Dispose of the pen safely in a sharps container.

Most of our pens are designed for once-weekly administration. You can inject on any day of the week — just pick a day and stick to it. The injection can be taken with or without food, and at any time of day.

If you miss a dose and your next scheduled dose is more than 48 hours away, take it as soon as you remember. If it's within 48 hours of the next dose, skip and resume your regular schedule.

GLP-1 receptor agonists work by mimicking the hormone GLP-1, which your gut naturally releases after eating. This hormone signals to the brain that you are full, slows gastric emptying (meaning food stays in your stomach longer), and reduces the drive to eat between meals.

• Have a history of pancreatitis
• Are under 18 years of age

GLP-1 medications can affect the absorption of oral medications by slowing gastric emptying. This is particularly important for medications with a narrow therapeutic window, such as warfarin or thyroid hormone replacement. If you take insulin or other blood glucose-lowering agents, dose adjustments may be required.
